Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. May the next year bring all your hopes to life.

Blizzard?

I figured since I'd talked so much about the snow I could at least post some pics. We've had over 50 inches so far. So even if we get no more snow, I get my very first White Christmas.

It's up to the middle of my thighs. I'm 5'6" so...

Visibility got so bad...take a look.

I've been tagged by Teresa of Technicalities to present my 5 Weird Habits to the blog world...

So here goes...

1. Shower vs sheets- I can not and will not climb into bed without taking a shower first. I never understood the point of climbing into clean sheets with a dirty body.

2. I read, watch TV, and play on the computer at the same time. And keep up with all three. It drove my roommate crazy.

3. My morning schedule. If this order isn't followed exactly, my day is off.
a. potty
b. coffee
c. wash face
d. brush teeth
e. coffee

4. When eating, I can not eat more than one item at a time. No intermixing potatoes with meat or meat with veggies (as if I eat veggies anyway).

5. I hate to vacuum. I'd rather sweep, mop, dust, or clean a toilet over vacuuming.

Unfortunately all the people I know with blogs have already been tagged for this meme. So I'll end this one with me.

Guardian angels are awesome.

So I'm outside enjoying a smoke.

The sun is shining and light flurries are falling.

The snow is pure white and gorgeous.

All is well.

Right?

Wrong.

As I turn around the snow/ice on the roof that had started to melt yesterday and refroze last night, had again started melting in the sunlight and went...

Crash BOOM

I looked down and had snow and ice to my knees.

Oh...about 25 feet of two foot wide pure ice 6-8 inches thick lay on the sidewalk.

(How do you like my math description? Jacqui- told you I didn't do well in math!)

If I had been 2 feet to the left, I wouldn't be typing this.

Cuz I'd've been in the hospital.

With a concussion...

A few broken bones....

Probably another neck injury...

And a killer headache.

The snow wouldn't have been white.

I like pink but not that much.

It took over half an hour for my heartbeat to slow down.

Then we got to shovel it off the sidewalk.

At least I haven't slipped and fallen on the ice yet.

Key word being yet.

Guardian angels are awesome.

Tired of snow talk?

I know I've done nothing but talk about snow. But I just gotta say...

WE GOT OVER 2 FEET!

I stepped...errr stumbled into a drift that was up to my thighs.

My thighs!

Now I'm only 5'6". So my thighs aren't that far off the ground.

But I've never seen snow over a couple of inches....

Like what we got the week before.

However, this snow is awesome.

Literally awesome.

I'm like a kid in a candy store.

With a no-limit credit card.

*grin*

Snow melts.

It's going away.

I don't want it to leave.

I was enjoying stomping in the snow, specially when it's all crunchy.

Even this little guy was enjoying it.

Ain't he cute?

They say we're supposed to get 5 - 10 more inches of snow this weekend.

Now I won't say that I want snow every year.

Snow is fun duz I don't have to deal with it year after year.

I think I'll keep it that way.

It don't snow that much in Georgia.

You know the one thing I've always wanted?

A white Christmas.

Maybe that'll happen this year.

08 December 2005

It's STILL snowing!

We got a good 12 inches the first couple of days. Then it started to melt.

Last night the snow decided to make war on us.

We got a good 8 inches of snow last night!

8 inches!

In one night!

Ok, so for you northerners this is probably nothing.

You're pshaw'ing me right now.

But I'm from the South.

Alabama to be exact.

It don't snow in Alabama.

We get ice storms.

So 8 inches is oustanding!

And lots of fun.

Except when it's on a man.

I prefer 7 inches.

So... time to smoke.

Adios!

An answer to conceit

Several weeks ago I posted about a family member's request for me to be conceited about my career.

This week I received the answer why.

My Grandma (whom I'm named after) took the facts of my life and transformed it into a life story. Let me explain.

I gave the facts- dates, times, locations, awards, etc.

My Mama and Grandma together added stories and experiences to the facts. And it became a story.

It was amazing. I cried when I read it. I've never been anyone's "Heroine" much less "Heroine of the week."

My grandmother also put my name on the prayer request list with my address.

I've received Christmas cards from all over North America. One card even said they happened to pick up a copy of the paper on their way through town while traveling and saw my address. Every one of them has put a smile on my face.

Why?

These cards from people I don't know are telling me just how special they think us military folk are.

We don't feel that we do anything special in our every day life. I know I don't. I get up in the morning, pull my pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else, drink my coffee, and head to work. It's just another day. Yeah, I wear the same thing to work every day but that just saves me time in the morning trying to figure out what to wear. And I don't have to worry about color coordination or fashion sense.

To me and the others here, it's just another day.

And tomorrow we'll get up, get dressed, drink our coffee, and head to work. Just like today.

Secure

My wireless router is secured and I can access it.

*doing a pixie jig*

I played and played with it until I finally figured it out.

I'm so smart sometimes.

Except when I stumble into the solution.

Like I did this time.

But I'll still take the credit.

Why?

Cuz I'm a...

We got snow!

So I wake up this morning, look outside, and what do I see? A light dusting of snow!

Then it started to melt. I was so sad.

Two hours ago it started snowing again. And it hasn't stopped!

It's so purty!

There's a good two inches on the ground and still snowing.

However, tomorrow morning it's supposed to start raining.

Can you say ice?

Lots of ice...

Bad thing about this- the buses don't run when it's icy. So in infinite wisdom, we get to walk to work.

Can you say slip and slide? And not the warm summery slipping and sliding.

This is gonna be fun.

02 December 2005

This was the beginning of my week.

I felt like paper.

I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can beat scissors, but there's no fucking way paper can beat rock. Paper is supposed to magically "wrap around" rock, rendering it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why-- BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY! A rock would tear that shit up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/paper/scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, "Oh shit, I'm sorry. I thought paper would protect you." you, asshole.

Then I woke up this morning and realized I wasn't in California anymore. Now I'm a rock again. :-)
